Bomp! Records had asked us for a single so we decided to re-record a track from Black Vinyl Shoes. We agreed that whichever song we chose-we finally settled on John's "Okay"-the flipside would be a collaboration by the other two guys. The song went pretty much unheard until we re-recorded it for our debut Elektra album, Present Tense. Consequently, it became one of the handful of songs that we're still best known for. It started out as a song called "Wonderwax", but was reworked and retitled with new lyrics. The opening section was actually two different riffs-one by Gary and one by Jeff-played at the same time.
