SHOES make Valentine's Day appearance at Ravinia for Chicago Live!

SHOES were asked to round out the recent show for Chicago Live! at Ravinia in Highland Park, IL on thursday, Feb. 14th (Valentines Day).  The Chicago Tribune teams up with Second City Players and WGN to put on a quarterly show and Shoes was asked to be the musical guest, playing two songs to close out the show.  The 1-1/2 hour event featured a variety of guests including Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins) interviewed by Marc Caro from the Chicago Tribune, WGN radio's Rick Kogan interviewing author Rebecca Skloot and guest chef Curtis Duffy with features reporter Kevin Pang.  Journalist Jennifer Weigel interviewed Amy Dickinson (Ask Amy columnist) and members of The Second City ensemble performed comedy sketches.  Opera tenor Bernard Holcomb, who has performed at the Lyric Opera, performed a song and Shoes closed the evening with 2 songs; Say It Like You Mean It, from their new album Ignition and Tomorrow Night, from their 1979 album, Present Tense.  Despite the obtuse mix that appears in the on-line Podcast (which completely lacks Jeff's acoustic guitar), the venue sound was much better and the band was very well received.
